Anna Maguire Sets Career High In Loss To Yale Tuesday

The Peacocks lost to Yale 72-56

 
NEW HAVEN, CT - The Saint Peter's women's basketball squad lost a tough game at Yale on Tuesday, 72-56. Anna Maguire led the Peacocks with 23 points, going 7-12 from the three point line.
 
Game Notes vs. Yale:
  • The Peacocks had a slow start to the game going down 18-0 in the first quarter. 
  • D'Aviyon Magazine had the only two baskets in the first quarter, putting the Peacocks down 20-5 after one frame.
  • In the second quarter, Maguire gave the Peacocks some momentum, going 4-4 from the three point arc. 
  • Maguire scored 12 of the Peacocks' 16 points in the second quarter.
  • In the fourth quarter, Magazine sank a three at the 3:27 to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 12, the closest the Peacocks got all game. 
  • The last quarter was the best quarter for the  Peacocks,outscoring the Bulldogs 23-15, but Yale still got out with a 72-56 win. 
Inside The Numbers:
  • The Peacocks had three players record double digit points against Yale.
  • Anna Maguire finished with a career high 23 points. 
  • Maguire scored seven threes in a single game, just short of Bridget Whitfield who holds the record for 8 threes in a single game in 2013. 
  • Zoe Pero contributed 12 points for the Peacocks while going 4-4 from the free throw line.
  • Magazine was the final double digit scorer, adding 10 points. 
  • Cinnamon Dockery and Pero both grabbed a team high of five rebounds. 
  • Tyara McQueen led the team in assists against the Bulldogs, finishing with four.
