Men’s Soccer’s Winning Streak Snapped by Unbeaten Fairfield on Senior Day

Fairfield topped men’s soccer 1-0 to end the team’s four-game win streak

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's soccer had its season's longest winning streak of four games snapped on Saturday by top-ranked and unbeaten Fairfield. The Peacocks fell 1-0 in the match on Senior Day.

Game Notes
  • In what was a very rainy and very physical matchup, Saint Peter's (8-7-2, 5-3-1) did a good job controlling the pace of the game.
  • Fairfield (10-4-2, 7-0-2) got just one shot on goal in the match's first five minutes, but a diving Jason Dubrovich saved the shot attempt to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Peacocks controlled the tempo the remaining 40 minutes in the half, logging four shots, all on goal, the rest of the way but failing to convert on the opportunities.
  • In the second half, the Peacocks remained in control, but a mishap by the defense allowed Fairfield's Jonathan Filipe to get free in the box and score the game-winning goal.
  • Late in the match, Tom Coulson had a free kick just outside the box with under four minutes remaining that sailed high over the post, ultimately ending the match for Saint Peter's.
Inside the Numbers
