JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Former Saint Peter's baseball standout Conor Mullee has been called up by the New York Yankees and will be dressed and in the Yankees bullpen for today's game against the Chicago White Sox at Yankees Stadium. First pitch is 1:05 p.m.

Mullee, a 24th round pick in the 2010 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Yankees, is 3-0 with three saves a 1.42 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 19.0 innings between Trenton and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. In five minor league seasons, Mullee is 12-6 with a 2.13 ERA, 11 saves and 142 strikeouts in 143.2 innings pitched. The Ashburn, Va., native has recovered from two injuries in his career. He recorded a three-out save with three strikeouts against the Toronto Blue Jays in a Spring Training Game on Mar. 26.

Mullee becomes the third former Peacock to be called up to the big leagues, joining Victor Santos and Frank Brooks. Santos, the 1994 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Tigers in 1995 and played parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues with Detroit, Colorado, Texas, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Baltimore. Santos went 23-48 with a 5.21 ERA and 425 strikeouts in 602.1 innings pitched. Brooks was drafted in the 14th round by the Philadelphia Phillies. Brooks appeared in 12 games in the big leagues with a 0-1 record, a 4.58 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings with Pittsburgh and Atlanta. Another former Saint Peter's player Mike Guilfoyle was drafted by the Tigers in the 19th round in 1990, but never played in the Major Leagues.

Mullee was inducted into the Saint Peter's Athletics Hall of Fame on Feb. 6, but could not attend the event because he had to report to the New York Yankees spring training. The 2011 graduate of Saint Peter's is the program's all-time career leader in doubles (55), RBIs (141), total bases (331) and ranks second in program history for career in games played (205), second in games starts (205), second in at-bats (743), second in runs scored (130), second in hits (216), third in home runs (17), sixth in walks (80) and 12th in stolen bases (37) when he finished his playing career in 2010. He also sits in the Top-10 in 10 single-season categories in team history.

The New York Yankees currently are 14-20 in the American League East and sit eight games behind the first-place Baltimore Orioles (22-12) in the standings.
