POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Trevis Wyche (Neptune, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) scored 12 of his game-high 16 points in the first half to give Saint Peter's a double-digit lead at halftime en route to a 68-60 win against Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's basketball action on Monday.

Wyche went 5-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from behind the arc in the first half to post 12 points in the stanza and help the Peacocks (5-7, 3-0 MAAC) take a 38-26 lead going into the locker room. The junior then posted four points in the second half, including two free throws down the stretch to help seal the victory. Wyche also added three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Antwon Portley (Lancaster, Texas/Lancaster) finished the night with 15 points while Rodney Hawkins (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton) registered nine points and seven rebounds and Quadir Welton (Philadelphia, Pa./Math, Civics and Science Charter) tallied seven points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort.

Brian Parker led the Red Foxes (4-9, 1-3 MAAC) with 14 points while David Knudsen (13 points), Kristinn Palsson (12 points) and Isaiah Lamb (10 points) also finished with double figures in the loss.

Saint Peter's took the lead in the first half and then withstood a couple Marist comeback attempts to earn its first win at McCann Arena since 2010-11. The Peacocks also start the league slate with three-straight wins since the 2010-11 campaign.

With the score tied at 15, Saint Peter's closed the half on a 23-11 run to go into the break with a 38-26 advantage.

Wyche gave the Peacocks the lead for good on a triple at 10:52. After Knudsen made two free throws at 10:13, Hawkins recorded four-straight points for a 22-17 margin with 9:18 on the clock.

After Eric Troug scored in the paint, Saint Peter's rolled off nine unanswered points to take a 31-19 lead. Wyche started this spurt with consecutive baskets before Portley drilled a jumper at 6:05 and Elias Desport (Stockholm, Sweden/Solna Gymnasium) converted a traditional 3-point play at 5:15 for a 12-point lead.

The Red Foxes then went on a 7-2 run to trim the margin to 33-26 with three minutes remaining in the half, but Wyche hit a 3-pointer and Cameron Jones (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) scored in the lane in the final minute to restore the 12-point advantage at the break.

Powered by eight points by Parker, Marist started the second half on an 11-5 run to cut the margin to 43-39 with 13:40 left.

After Kentrell Brooks made two free throws with 11:02 remaining to make it a four-point game at 45-41, the Peacocks answered with a 9-0 run to restore a double-digit lead at 54-41 with 6:05 left.

Marist cut it to eight points twice, but could get no closer to give Saint Peter's its second road win of the season to start the three-game road trip on a high note.

The Red Foxes grabbed the lead three times in the first seven minutes, but would not lead again after the Peacocks closed the first half on a big run and never looked back for the win.

Jones added eight points while Elisha Boone (Laurelton, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) hauled in eight rebounds and Chazz Patterson (Brown Mills, N.J./Trenton Catholic) posted five points and seven boards on the night.

Saint Peter's continues its three-game road trip at Niagara on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
