Box Score

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Quinnipiac defeated Saint Peter's 4-2 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Saturday.

Kaitlyn Lima (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) and Genesis Castrellon (Encinitas, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) each found the twine for the Peacocks (2-7-0, 0-2-0 MAAC) while Michele Laz (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Technical) and Brooke Tartis (Neptune, N.J./Neptune) each dished out an assist.  Taylor McLean (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) made eight saves in the final 54:31 of the match in the loss.

Jessica Jankowski paced the Bobcats (5-3-0, 1-1-0 MAAC) with two goals and an assist. Kelly Caruso added a tally and an assist while Amanda Barroca also found the twine and Natalia Grodzki turned away three shots in the winning effort.

Quinnipiac scored three of the four goals in the first half en route to its third-straight win against Saint Peter's since joining the league in 2013.

The Bobcats got the scoring started with Caruso knocked the ball ahead to Jankowski, who found the netting at 20:06 for a 1-0 lead. Six minutes and 44 seconds later Jankowski registered her second goal of the afternoon when she found the twine off a Jess Fontaine helper at 26:50 for a two-goal margin.

The Peacocks got on the board when Laz crossed the ball from right to left and found Lima in front of the far post before the senior knocked the ball into the corner at 32:09 to trim the margin to 2-1. It was Lima's first tally since her first season with Saint Peter's in 2013.

After a foul in the box that resulted in a red card against Saint Peter's and forcing the Peacocks to play a man down for the remaining 59 minutes and 31 seconds, Caruso converted the penalty kick at 35:29 to hand Quinnipiac a 3-1 lead at the break.

Baraocca increased the margin to 4-1 when she found the back of the net at 51:03 off an assist by Jankowski.

Saint Peter's trimmed the margin to 4-2 after Kelsey Nugent (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) had a shot hit off the cross bar and found the foot of Tartis, who then connected with Castrellon at 68:47, but the Peacocks could get no closer the rest of the way.

Saint Peter's returns to action on Wednesday at Rider in an hOURglass Rivalry matchup. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
