Box Score HACKENSACK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson defeated Saint Peter 73-52 in non-conference women's basketball action on Wednesday.
Sajanna Bethea (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) paced the Peacocks (1-8) with 17 points and seven rebounds while Janelle Mullen (Ozone Park, N.Y./The Hun School of Princeton) added a career-high 11 points in the loss.
Ericka Livermore powered the Knights (2-6) with 23 points while Kelsey Cruz posted 16 points, Jackie Jackson recorded 11 points and Brianne Thomas chipped in 10 points in the winning effort.
Fairleigh Dickinson took the lead from the opening tip and never looked back to earn its second-straight win against Saint Peter's.
The Knights scored 15 of the first 18 points in the first quarter powered by nine points from Livermore.
The Peacocks then closed the quarter on a 13-2 run to trim the margin to 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. Bethea scored seven points in the spurt for Saint Peter's.
Similar to the first quarter, Fairleigh Dickinson used a strong run to start the frame to grab a double-digit lead after the Hackensack program scored the first 11 points of the second stanza. Thomas posted five points in the spurt. The Peacocks closed the gap to nine points twice, but the Knights went into the locker room with a 33-21 advantage.
Fueled by 13 points from Cruz and nine points by Livermore, Fairleigh Dickinson outscored Saint Peter's 24-12 to extend its lead after the third quarter, 57-33.
The Knights continued to hold the Jersey City team at bay en route to a 73-52 victory.
Talah Hughes (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) registered nine points and 10 rebounds for the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's returns to the hardwood when it heads to Seton Hall on Dec. 20. Game time is 12 p.m.
