Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) recorded two goals and an assist to power Saint Peter's past George Washington 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action on Saturday.
Fairlamb converted penalty kicks in the 26th and 41st minute while adding an assist in the 34th minute. After posting three assists for three points as a freshman, the sophomore leads the team in 2014 with four goals and two assists for 10 points.
Louis Mobbs (Hull, England/Sydney Smith), who recorded three goals last season, notched his first tally of the year for the Peacocks (2-6-0) while Ezequiel Cei (Elizabeth, N.J./St. Benedict's) posted his second goal of the year. Sophomore Reece Lambert (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart) registered his first career point with an assist on Mobbs' marker and David Giddings (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) had six saves in the winning effort.
J.P. van der Merwe turned away two shots for the Colonials (3-4-0) in the loss.
Fueled by Fairlamb's five-point performance, Saint Peter's scored four times on the afternoon to earn its second-straight win against George Washington and record its most goals in a match since 2010.
After a Colonials foul, Fairlamb converted a penalty kick at 25:02 to put the Peacocks on the scoreboard.
Mobbs increased the margin to two goals off of feeders from Lambert and Fairlamb at 33:31 before Fairlamb capped the three-goal first half by converting his second PK of the day at 40:13 to give Saint Peter's a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Cei added his second tally of the season early in the second half to seal the 4-0 win with his goal at 47:27.
The Colonials also had a penalty-kick opportunity, but Giddings made the save in the 85th minute.
The Peacocks' four goals were the most goals scored in a game by the team since downing Manhattan 7-0 on Nov. 2, 2010.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Oct. 4 at Siena. Game time is 1 p.m.
