Box Score STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Wagner scored twice in the second half to down Saint Peter's 2-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Friday night.
Lauren Solene (Fall City, Wash./Mount Si) made 15 saves in her first collegiate start for the Peacocks (0-2-0) on the night. Solene made her collegiate debut in the season opener against Lafayette on Tuesday, making two saves and allowing one tally. Kaitlyn Lima (Kearny, N.J./Kearny [New Jersey City]) recorded as team-high two shots in the loss.
Samantha Jensen scored both goals for the Seahawks (2-1-0) while Sydney McNutt dished out an assist on Jensen's second tally and Katie Marcy made five saves to earn the shutout. Wagner completed a three-game stretch against the Metro Atlantic Conference, posting wins against Iona and Saint Peter's while falling to Manhattan.
The Seahawks scored twice in the second half to earn its fourth-straight win in the series and to even the all-time matchup 8-8-1.
Jensen broke a scoreless standstill with an unassisted tally from 17-yards out at the 64:28 mark and then capped the win when she took a pass from McNutt at 76:30 for a 2-0 advantage.
Saint Peter's had several shots on goal, but could not convert. Naima Gustafsson (Jersey City, N.J./Saint Dominic Academy) had her shot turned away in the 10th minute before Ashley Drozd (Baiting Hallow, N.Y./Riverhead) had her scoring chance thwarted in the 27th minute. In the second half, Carlee Gonzalez (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) had her shot saved by Marcy in the 61st minute and then Lima had back-to-back chances turned away in a span of 50 seconds in the 74th minute.
Symone Sweazie (Bridgeton, N.J./Bridgeton) made her collegiate debut off the bench for the Peacocks.
Saint Peter's returns to action at Sacred Heart on Sunday. Match time is 1 p.m.
