RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Steffany Laureano won two events on Sunday to pace the Saint Peter's track and field team at the Brother Jasper Invitational.
In the women's 400-meter dash, Laureano finished with a time of 57.79 seconds. Raquel Henderson (Ocean Twp, N.J./Ocean Township) placed third in the run, notching a time of 1:00.32. Laureano also ran to a first place finish in the 200-meter, running a time of 26.08 seconds. Victoria Lundin (Islip, N.Y./St. John the Baptist), Latasha Green and Henderson would round out the top-five finishes for the Peacocks.
Jennifer Cajou (Amityville, N.Y. / Farmingdale High School) had a good afternoon, notching a first place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 11.46-meters. Shaena Wizzard, Sunita Kumar (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Kirchheim) and Andrijana Andric (Serbia/Belvaue) rounded out the top performers in the event.
Isaiah Harris (Orange, N.J./Immaculate Conception) was back to work in the triple jump, leaping 14.88-meters to notch a first place finish. Dashawn Putman (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) placed fifth, jumping 13.55-meters. Harris also finished second in the high jump, notching a leap of 2.09-meters.
In the mile run, Lance Weaver (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway High School) finished in third, running a time of 4:33.07. Teammate Mohamed Merdan (Bayonne, N.J./County Prep) placed fifth respectively, notching a time of 4:41.51. Natalia Carvalho (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) finished third on the women's side, running her mile in 5:29.33.
Overall, the women placed second out of 11 schools competing. The men placed third out of 12 schools that competed.
Saint Peter's returns to action Jan. 10-11, when they travel to Rutgers University to compete in a tri-meet.
