Box Score

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Rafael Braga (Union, N.J./Union) scored in the 78th minute to help Saint Peter's end in a 1-all standstill against Rider in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Wednesday.

After the Broncs (6-4-1, 1-0-1 MAAC) took the early advantage on a goal in the fourth minute, Braga headed in a corner kick serve from MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Marcel Maddee' (Berlin, Germany/Gymnasium Villa Elisabeth) to even the score at 1 with less than 13 minutes remaining.

Carlos Suarez (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/St. Benedict's Prep) made two saves for the Peacocks (2-4-4, 0-0-2 MAAC) on the afternoon.

Sonimi Halliday scored the Rider goal off a Christian Flath helper on a corner kick serve at the 3:25 mark while David Pastuna turned away four shots on the day.

Both teams found the back of the net off corner kicks before the game ended as a draw, marking the sixth time this season the Saint Peter's team went to overtime this season.

After Braga tied the game for the Peacocks, Maddee' had two scoring chances in the final 13 minutes of regulation. The MAAC Offensive Player of the Week had his shot blocked by the Broncs defense in the 84th minute and missed wide in the 86th minute.

Rider had a pair of chances in the first overtime, but Rob Nardiello and Halliday both missed wide in the 98th and 99th minutes, respectively.

In the second extra session, Justin Gregory missed high in the 105th minute and Zach Bond missed high in the 108th minute. Chris Stragepede (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) gave Saint Peter's its final scoring chance, but his shot was turned away with 20 seconds left on the clock.

The squad has played six overtime games this season and four-straight matches. It marks the most overtime games in a season since the team played seven during the 2007 season.

The Peacocks return to action on Saturday at Marist. Match time is 7 p.m.
