Box Score The Saint Peter's University Peacocks (1-1) dropped their home opener this afternoon to the Sacred Heart University Pioneers (1-0) 2-1. The Peacocks opened the scoring early in the first, but a pair of goals during the latter part of the first half gave Sacred Heart the lead. Carlos Suarez made four saves for the Peacocks in net.
Betim Bajrami opened the scoring at 11:06, scoring in the box off a pass from Jack Pounce. Sacred Heart tied the game at 29:04 on a free kick and then took the lead at 38:58 on a penalty kick and took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The second half went scoreless, although the Peacocks had the majority of the chances, but could not find the back of the net. Saint Peter's finished with 11 shots, but just two on goal, while Sacred Heart had seven shots, six on net.
Saint Peter's will return to action on Tuesday afternoon as they host Lehigh for a 4pm kick-off at Jaroschak Field.
