Recap:

The Saint Peter's College baseball team swept Siena College by scores of 4-0 and 4-3 in today's double-header to complete the three game sweep. This marks the second time this season that the Peacocks have won a MAAC series, and the first time in program history that they have swept the Saints. The only other time Saint Peter's took a series from the Saints occurred in 2008, where they took two of three games in the last week of March. Matt Yuhas pitched a complete game shutout in the first contest (7.0 IP, 3 hits, 2 walks, 0 earned runs, 4 strikeouts), while Anthony DeLeo pitched two scoreless innings of relief in game two to pick up his first victory of the season.

Saint Peter's scored all the runs they would need in the third inning of game one, off three hits and a Siena error. An RBI single by Justyn Carter scored Patt Farrell who reached base on a fielder's choice, while Matt Speckmann followed behind to score on an error by the center fielder in the same play (2-0). Carter, who advanced to third, came home two batters later on a sacrifice fly by Nick Henriquez to put the Peacocks up 3-0.

SPC added their last run in the fifth on an RBI base hit by Henriquez to score Speckmann who walked to start the inning.

The Peacocks finished with 5 hits to the Saints' 3, and were led by Nick Henriquez (1-2, 2 RBI) and Matt Speckmann (2-2, 1 walk, 2 runs).

In game two, Saint Peter's trailed Siena 2-0 heading into the third, until they scored their first marker of the game on a fielder's choice by Zack Rawson to bring home Carter.

The Peacocks took their first lead of the game in the next inning, as they recorded two runs on three hits and a miscue by the hosts- all with two outs. With the bases loaded, Carter would come to the plate and rip a ground ball base hit up the middle to score Preston Aldridge and Farrell to put SPC ahead 3-2.

Siena managed to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Will Cardona, and both teams failed to score a run for the next three innings.

In the top of the ninth however, Farrell started the frame by getting hit by a pitch, followed by Speckmann who would reach first on an error by the Saints' pitcher. Ariel Ramirez, who pinch ran for Farrell, advanced to third on the miscue setting the stage for Justyn Carter. The senior short stop would come through with what proved to be the game winning sacrifice fly to right, bringing home Ramirez and making the score 4-3.

Dom Macaluso entered the game in the ninth and gave up just one hit to record his sixth save of the season. DeLeo also pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Mancini.

Justyn Carter finished the game 1-3 with a walk, 3 RBI and 1 run scored, while Zach Rawson finished 2-4 with 1 RBI.

Saint Peter's returns to action next Wednesday April 25th, as they travel to Long Branch, NJ to face Monmouth University for a 3:30pm game.
