Peacocks Fall to Manhattan

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's College Peacocks (5-21, 4-11 MAAC) dropped their third straight game this afternoon, 85-63 to the Manhattan College Jaspers (18-9, 11-4 MAAC). The Peacocks fell behind in the first half and went into the break down by seven, but a run early in the second half gave the Jaspers a 17-point cushion and they would never look back. Lamin Fulton led the Peacocks with 15 points.

Saint Peter's won the tip, but it was Manhattan that scored the first seven points of the game. The Peacocks did score and went on a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 10-9 at the 13:11 mark. Saint Peter's trailed 14-12, but the Jaspers scored the next seven points to take a 21-14 lead with 9:24 to play.

The Peacocks then went on a 10-2 run to take their first lead at 24-23 at the 6:45 mark. Manhattan responded with a 12-0 run to take their largest lead at 35-24 with 3:26 to play in the first half. Saint Peter's then ended the half on a 9-3 run and went into the break trailing Manhattan 35-28.

Markese Tucker led Saint Peter's off the bench with eight points. Michael Alvarado led Manhattan with nine points. Saint Peter's shot 43% from the field, while Manhattan shot 41%. The Jaspers outrebounded the Peacocks 16-13 and committed nine turnovers, while forcing 11.

Manhattan came out of the break and immediately went on a 13-2 run to take a 52-35 lead with 16:17 left to play. The two teams then traded 9-2 runs and the Jaspers remained ahead by 17, 63-46 with 11:23 to play. Manhattan led by as many as 23 the rest of the way and Saint Peter's could only get as close as the final score.

Fulton was 5-9 from the field. Markese Tucker added 14 points. Alvarado led all scorers with 17 for Manhattan. Manhattan shot 52% from the field and Saint Peter's shot 49%. Manhattan outrebounded Saint Peter's 33-22 and forced 20 turnovers, while committing 14.

Saint Peter's will next travel to Bridgeport, CT to face the Fairfield Stags on Wednesday for a 7:30pm tip at Webster Bank Arena.
