After dropping the first two sets by scores of 16-25 and 21-25, respectively, the Saint Peter's University volleyball team soon pulled out a 25-19 third set victory against the defending MAAC Champions, Niagara University, before falling 16-25 in the decisive fourth frame. With the loss, Saint Peter's drops to 1-29, 0-16 MAAC, while the Purple Eagles improve to 15-10, 12-3 MAAC.
Jenny Pliska led Saint Peter's to the set three win, serving four consecutive points to seal the deal. The Peacocks were able to come back from a five-point Niagara advantage (12-7) and eventually grabbed their first lead of the stanza at 18-17. Saint Peter's outscored the hosts by a 8-1 margin to easily come away with the win.
Saint Peter's hit a match best .282 in the third set to Niagara's .135.
For the match, the Peacocks recorded a .133 hitting percentage and were led by freshman Lauren Behrens' 13 putdowns and 4 service aces. Senior Kassi Wirth recorded 11 kills on 32 attacks (.281) and Jenny Pliska came away with a match-high 18 digs.
The Peacocks will conclude the 2012 season with a 2pm match tomorrow against Canisius in Buffalo, NY.
