The Saint Peter’s rookie duo of Jordan Jowers and Thea Ramirez earned honorable mention recognition for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Year, announced by the league. Jowers, a men’s soccer freshman forward, and Ramirez, a redshirt-freshman softball utility, were nominated as the Saint Peter’s Student-Athletes of the Year for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Jowers, a 5-11 midfielder, led the Peacocks with 16 points and eight goals during the 2017 season. He ranked among the MAAC leaders in both categories and was also one of the top shot takers during the year. Jowers appeared and started in all 16 games during 2017, scoring at least one goal in six of the contests. He had two separate occasions where he tallied two goals, coming in back-to-back games at home against Canisius (Oct. 14) and Iona (Oct. 18). Jowers recorded two game-winning goals, which also was a team-best on the season. Following his rookie campaign, Jowers was named to the All-MAAC Second team and MAAC All-Rookie team. In the classroom, he holds a GPA above a 3.4 while majoring in Business Administration and Management.

The duo both also earned Saint Peter’s Student-Athlete of the Year honors for their respective classes in April at the annual athletic awards banquet.
