Fernando Zayas joined the Saint Peter’s University women’s volleyball staff in 2025, bringing experience as both an educator and a coach within the Hudson County community.

Most recently, Zayas led the boys’ and girls’ varsity volleyball programs at Dickinson High School (2023–25), focusing on player development, team culture and academic growth. In addition to his coaching role, Zayas has worked as a Health and Physical Education Teacher with the Jersey City Board of Education since 2022, introducing students to the value of health, wellness and physical activity.

Alongside his professional experience, Zayas brings strong skills in coaching, teaching, conflict resolution, player development, adaptability and communication. He has also been recognized for academic excellence, earning the Thanksgiving Classic Academic Achievement Award.

Zayas is a graduate of Kean University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 2022. Prior to that, he attended County Prep High School, where he studied audio/visual production.
