Ryan Morris joined Saint Peter’s men's soccer program at the beginning of the 2019 season, and serves as the top assistant coach on Julian Richens staff. He is entering his second season with the program in 2020-21.
In 2019, Morris was part of a coaching staff that helped lead the Peacocks to their winningest season in a decade and an outright Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season title. Saint Peter's finished the year with a 13-6-0 overall record as well as a program-best 9-1-0 mark in league play. Along the way, the coaching staff led the squad to an appearance in the 2019 MAAC Championship Finals -- their first such appearance since their last title in 2010 -- after a program-record 10-game winning/unbeaten streak. Despite finishing as the league tournament runners-up, the Peacocks still earned their first regular season crown since 2010 and posted the third-highest win total in single-season school history.
Highlighted by Dominic Laws '21 being named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, the 2019 edition of the Peacocks led the league with their seven all-conference honorees in 2019, a figure that is tied for the most in a single season in program history (2006). Both Laws and classmate Jordan Jowers '21 also gathered additional postseason hardware as all-region selections by the ECAC and Untied Soccer Coaches' Association. Saint Peter's also boasted a league-leading 15 MAAC All-Academic Team honorees, as well.
Morris joined Saint Peter’s with an established background in coaching and playing career. Most recently, Morris was an Assistant Coach at TCNJ, where he helped the program to their best start since 2004. Currently, Morris is also an academy coach at TSF Academy where he works with several different boys teams. Additionally, Morris also served as the Assistant Coach for Atlantic City FC in the summer of 2019, where they went on to become Keystone Conference Regular Season Champions.
Morris has coached at various other levels including youth soccer at Woden Weston Football Club in Australia and Marlboro Soccer Association in New Jersey, as well as high school soccer at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and Marlboro High School.
In addition to coaching, Morris owns significant playing experience. Most recently, he has played for the Woden Weston Football Club in the National Premier League of Australia, and he has also been a part of several other professional and semi-professional teams in the United States such as the Clarkstown SC Eagles, Fort Lauderdale Strikers Reserves, FC Tuscon, Harrisburg Heat, and Atlantic City Crusaders. Morris played collegiately at Montclair State University, Brookdale Community College, and West Virginia University.
Morris is a 2019 graduate of Monclair State, earning his degree in Applied Nutrition. He also holds coaching licenses from United States Soccer Federation and United Soccer Coaches.
