Steven Cruz enters his second season as the Director of Basketball Operations on head coach Shaheen Holloway's staff in 2020-21.

Cruz arrives in Jersey City after spending last winter on the men's basketball staff at The College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, New York, where he served as an assistant men's basketball coach for the NCAA Division III program. Previously, Cruz coached at the high school level for three years (2015-18) as an assistant varsity coach at LaSalle Academy in New York City. He was part of a coaching staff that guided the team to the 2017 Catholic High School Athletic Association NYS Championship, the 2017 NYS Federation Championship and the 2017 and 2018 Catholic High School Athletic Association City Division Championships. 
 
Cruz worked with the Hoop Group Elite Camp and Princeton Elite Camps in Summer 2019. He is a 2014 graduate of Siena College, where he was a four-year walk-on member of the men's basketball team and team captain during his senior year. Cruz also obtained his master's degree from Hunter College in 2016.
