NEWARK, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team (2-3-1), in a battle against the NJIT Highlanders (1-3-2) draw, 0-0, on Saturday night at Lubetkin Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF: In a physical first half, the Peacocks started off strong keeping a steady pace against the Highlanders. Despite the highlanders four shots on goal, Moritz Conrad, who was named MAAC defensive player of the week, went four for four on saves. Although there were several opportunities, both teams remained scoreless in the first forty-five minutes of gameplay.
SECOND HALF: The Peacocks began the second half just as aggressive as the first with five total yellow cards on both teams and one Highlander red card. Conrad was able to keep up with the highlanders again going five for five on all of the shots on goal. The physicality between the two teams sparked energy in the crowd as time quickly wound down. With just three corner opportunities in the second half, neither team was able to score. In the final two minutes of game play, Leo Coval attempted to keep the Peacocks alive with a shot on goal, which ended up blocked by the goal keeper. Though the Peacocks put up a fight, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
