JERSEY CITY, N.J. – With the regular season winding down, the Saint Peter's men's basketball team is sitting one game out of the final qualifying spot for the MAAC Tournament. The Peacocks' road to take that spot is a tough one as they are set to face top-seeded Quinnipiac and Marist this weekend, but they are more than up to the challenge.
The first test the Peacocks (10-14, 5-11 MAAC) are faced with is on Friday when they take on Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU live from Knott Arena where the Bobcats (17-10, 13-3 MAAC) have lost just two games this season.
The Peacocks will then travel to McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie, New York to play Marist on Sunday at 2 p.m. Like Quinnipiac, the Red Foxes (20-5, 13-3 MAAC) have lost only twice at home all season. Marist is currently on a four-game winning streak and looks to extend it to five when it plays Sacred Heart on Friday.
At this time last year, Saint Peter's was firing on all cylinders, going on a five-game winning streak to earn a No. 5-seed in the MAAC Tournament. The Peacocks are looking to go on a similar run this season as they have won three of their last four games, but this time it will be for a chance to just make the tournament. We have seen in the past that if this program has a chance then anything can happen.
