BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Peter's cross country team opened competition Saturday morning at Lehigh's 51st annual Paul Short Run, held at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
Shirleysa Rivas represented the Peacocks in the Women's Open 6k, while the men competed in the College Brown 8k.
The women's race featured 442 competitors and a fast front pack. Unattached runner Mary-Kate Finn clocked 20:04.4 to win, cutting more than 20 seconds off her previous best. Keerstin Augustin followed in 20:22.5, trimming six seconds from her PR, while Grace Weigele rounded out the top three in 20:23.2. The top 20 was sprinkled with athletes from Princeton, Penn State, Yale, Army West Point, and Elon University. Rivas crossed the line in 25:09.8, placing 301st overall in the large field.
The men's race featured 314 competitors, including a fast core of runners. Indiana (Pa.) senior Mike Formica led the pack with a time of 24:18.2, his third consecutive first-place finish this season. George Washington's Michael Bohlke finished close behind, clocking in at 24:20.8, while University of New Brunswick's Jared Howse rounded out the top three in 24:23.1.
Freshman
Sebastian Lopez was the first Peacock to finish, crossing the line in 26:42.1, placing 174th overall.
Gerardo Quaglia followed behind, clocking in at 27:54.6.
Nicholaus Michael finished in 28:31.1 and
Johan Aparicio in 29:11.6, new PRs for the sophomores. Rookie
Christopher Hernandez crossed the finish in 30:12.4, shaving more than 40 seconds off his previous mark. Rounding out the race for the Peacocks was
Jack Cabrera with a time of 31:49.1.
George Washington overall secured first in the race, with a team score of 47. American took home second with a total of 117 points, and Binghamton rounded out the top three with 145 points.

The Saint Peter's women's cross country team makes its official season debut on Wednesday, October 10, hosting FDU in a dual meet at Jaroschak Field. The whole squad will then turn its attention to the METS Championship, hosted by NJIT at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ, with the first gun slated for 10 a.m.
