MONTCLAIR, N.J - Junior
Mohit Sanagavarapu led the way as the Saint Peter's men's golf team earned themselves a top five finish at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Golf Invitational at Montclair Golf Club on Tuesday, a massive improvement from the previous year's finish of ninth overall.
Sanagavarapu had an unbelievable day two leading the Peacocks as he finished the tournament with a score of +8, earning himself a fourth place finish for individual performance, along with an amazing eagle score on hole eight. Senior
Shiv Manhas continued his great performance from day one with a day two score of +9, placing him within the top ten at sixth place.
The rest of Peacocks all performed well, with six players placing within the top 50 individually. Junior
Jeffery Yong placed third for the Peacocks with a score of +16 and a top 25 finish. Junior
Chad Maurer bounced back from day one with a score of +18 and placing 30th overall. Sophomores
Jack Hennelly and
Nick Campanella placed 40th and 46th respectively with scores of +20 and +23.
"So proud of how our guys played today in really difficult conditions." Said Coach
Dr. Jim Stefankiewicz, "Things were really close but we came up a little short. We also had some amazing individual performances with two guys in the top 10."
The final scores from day two of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Golf Invitational, the Peacocks will return to the greens in late March.
