LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team returns to action when they take on Rider at Alumni Gymnasium on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The Peacocks are 5-5 in away games this season and both of their conference wins have come on the road.
Last week, Saint Peter's fell to first-place Merrimack in a 37-48 game at home. The Peacocks started off hot, opening the first half with a large lead, but poor shooting led to a second half Merrimack comeback.
Saint Peter's looks to get back on track in conference play on Friday night when it takes on the Broncs. For the Peacocks,
Marcus Randolph is scoring 14.2 points per game.
Armoni Zeigler has also been a key piece for Saint Peter's, recording 10.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. Redshirt freshman
Bryce Eaton is putting up 9.5 points per game and a team-high 2.6 assists per game.
ABOUT THE BRONCS
Rider ranks one spot ahead of the Peacocks in the MAAC with an overall record of 7-13 and a conference record of 3-6.
The Broncs are led by graduate guard T.J. Weeks Jr. and redshirt senior forward Jay Alvarez. Weeks Jr. is averaging 13.1 points per game while Alvarez is averaging 12.8. Ruben Rodriguez leads the team in assists with a total of 62 for a 3.1 average.
The Broncs are coached by Kevin Baggett who is in his 13th year as the head coach of Rider.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Both Saint Peter's and Rider average 65.1 points per game offensively, but on defense the Peacocks (63.1) allow almost 10 less points per game than the Broncs (72.5).
Rider is coming off two losses, falling to Quinnipiac on the road and Iona at home. So far, the Broncs are just 1-5 at home with their one win coming against Mount St. Mary's on Jan. 16.
