JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Softball team concluded its regular season in a doubleheader Saturday against Iona (17-27, 14-10 MAAC) at Jaroschak Field. The Peacocks honored their 2024 senior class of Maiah Skakal and Kaitlynn Peters before game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
- Cara McNulty matched the Saint Peter's career leader record for doubles. In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, McNulty doubled in the bottom of the second inning. McNulty's 45 career doubles are tied with Darleen Anderson (1995-98).
- Kristen Brennan finished her career in Jersey City with 104 strikeouts. Brennan led Saint Peter's in wins this season with seven.
- In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, Jess Forte recorded her 100th career hit. Forte singled in the bottom of the second inning, in the Peacocks' 17-4 victory over Iona.
Game One | Game Two
Game One - Iona - 10 | Saint Peter's - 2 (Five Innings)
- Iona scored 10 runs on eleven hits.
- Iona's shortstop Hailey Guerrero led Iona at the plate. Guerrero went 3-4 with one home run, two runs scored, and three RBIs.
- Saint Peter's Dakota Pitts hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. Peters smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning, for SPU's second run.
- Iona pitcher Samantha Reib (5.0 IP, three hits, two runs, two earned runs, one walk, and three strikeouts), picked up the win for the Gaels.
Game Two - Saint Peter's - 17 | Iona - 4 (Five Innings)
- The Peacocks scored a season-high 17 runs in their regular season finale.
- Saint Peter's pitcher Sophia Wilson picked up the win in the circle.
- McNulty, Pitts, and Peters homered in the game for Saint Peter's.
- At the plate, Saint Peter's freshman Zailees Seda led Saint Peter's with six RBIs. Seda went 3-3 with one run scored and two doubles.
- Saint Peter's recorded 16 hits in the game.
- In the bottom of the first inning, McNulty homered to left field and tied the game up at 2-2.
- Forte followed and singled to center field for her 100th career hit. The next batter Pitts homered to left field and gave the Peacocks a 4-2 advantage. Seda hit an RBI double to left field and the Peacocks led 5-2 in the first inning.
- In the bottom of the second inning, McNulty hit an RBI double to center field and tied Saint Peter's Darleen Anderson for most career doubles with 45. Seda smacked a two-RBI single to left field. The Peacocks extended their lead to 9-2 through two innings.
- Saint Peter's scored eight runs In the bottom of the third inning and sealed the game up in the top of the fifth inning.
- Forte recorded an RBI single followed by a three-RBI double from Seda. Peters added two runs with her second home run of the season.
- Later in the bottom of the third inning, Saint Peter's freshman Ashley Murphy doubled to center field. SPU freshman Orndorff scored Murphy on an RBI double. Skakal scored Orndorff on an RBI single for SPU's 17th run.
Saint Peter's concluded its regular season at 16-34, 6-18 MAAC.
