JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (16-13, 12-8 MAAC) concluded its regular season Saturday at Run Baby Run Arena. The Peacocks were defeated by Quinnipiac (23-8, 15-5 MAAC) 89-74.
Prior to the game, Saint Peter's honored its 2024 senior class of Latrell Reid, Oumar Diahame, and Roy Clarke.Â
The Bobcats had four players in double figures led by Matt Balanc (25 points, four rebounds, and one assist). Balanc shot 8-15 from the field. Paul Otieno scored 18 points with seven rebounds and Amarri Tice scored 14 points, with five rebounds. Rihards Vavers contributed 10 points with three rebounds.Â
Corey Washington led the Peacocks 21 points and seven rebounds. Washington finished the year as Saint Peter's points leader (16.8 points per game) and rebounds leader (6.4 rebounds per game). For the SPU sophomore, it was his tenth game of the season that he's scored 20+ points. Washington shot an efficient 8-16 (50%) from the field.Â
Marcus Randolph scored 14 points with two rebounds. Randolph went 3-6 (50%) from three-point range. Michael Houge added 12 points off the bench.Â
The Bobcats shot 33-59 from the field (55.9%) and 9-15 (60%) from three-point range.Â
Saint Peter's concludes the regular season at fifth in the MAAC standings.Â

Armoni Zeigler scored five straight for the Peacocks followed by Roy Clarke, who added four straight. SPU trailed 23-18 after Clarke scored a layup.Â

Later in the half, a three-pointer from Balanc extended the Bobcats lead to 38-28. SPU trailed 48-40 at halftime.

SPU's Michael Houge and Washington produced in the second half. Houge tallied 12 second-half points. Houge went 4-6 from the field.Â

From the 13:47 mark in the second half, Houge scored 11 of Saint Peter's next 13 points.Â

After a pair of free throws from Houge, the Peacocks trailed 68-63 with 9:16 left.Â

The Bobcats answered back with a run. A jump shot from Balanc gave the Bobcats a 77-67 advantage.Â

Saint Peter's scored five straight points, to cut the deficit. A three-pointer from Randolph put the score at 77-72 with 4:26 left in the game.Â

The Bobcats closed out the game on a 12-2 run in the final four minutes.Â
