Men's Basketball Returns To Action Thursday At Rider

JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (16-11, 12-6 MAAC) travels to Alumni Gym in Lawrenceville, NJ for a game at Rider (14-16, 11-8 MAAC) on Thursday, Mar. 7.

Overview 
This matchup features the two hottest teams in the MAAC. The Peacocks are on a five-game winning streak in which they have defeated Siena (Feb. 16), Iona (Feb. 18), Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 23),  Marist (Feb.25), and Manhattan (Mar. 3). The Broncs have won their last six games. This includes wins against Mount St. Mary's, Manhattan, Iona, Quinnipiac, Niagara, and Canisius. 

Rider has averaged 77.8 points per game over its last six games and is currently fifth in the MAAC standings. The Broncs are headlined by Mervin James. The 6-7 forward leads the MAAC in scoring with 19.2 points per game. James has dropped 20+ points in five consecutive games. Rider's Tariq Ingraham averages a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game (seventh in the MAAC).   

Saint Peter's (16-11, 12-6 MAAC) is third in the MAAC standings with two games left in the regular season. The Peacocks are behind Fairfield (18-11, 12-6 MAAC) and Quinnipiac (21-8, 13-5 MAAC).

Defense
Saint Peter's is ranked 11th in the nation in scoring defense. The Peacocks have held opponents to 63.3 points per game. During SPU's winning streak, the Peacocks have held opponents to 57.6 points per game. The Peacocks are 9-0 when they have held opponents to under 60 points this season.

Corey Washington
Since returning to the Peacocks' lineup on Feb. 16, Washington has averaged 21.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. The Preseason All-MAAC honoree has scored 20+ points in seven games and has tallied three double-doubles this season. The 6-6 forward from Arkansas leads the Peacocks in scoring (16.3 PPG) and rebounding (6.1 RPG)

Latrell Reid
The Peacocks' point guard has scored in double figures in 20 games and leads the Peacocks in assists with 130 this season. The New Jersey native is second in the MAAC in assists per game with 4.8. Reid recorded one rebound short of a triple-double in Saint Peter's win over Manhattan on Mar. 3. The SPU senior scored 15 points, and distributed a career-high 17 assists with nine rebounds. 

Marcus Randolph
Randolph has been a sharpshooter from beyond the arc. The Saint Peter's junior has made at least two three-pointers and shot 50% or above from downtown in five straight games. In SPU's victory over Manhattan on Mar. 3, Randolph went 4-4 from three-point range and scored 13 points.

Saint Peter's is 34-43 all-time versus Rider.
