Box Score NEW BRITAIN, CT. - The Saint Peter's Softball team opened its 2024 campaign at Central Connecticut State on Saturday with a doubleheader.Â
Game One - CCSU 4 | Saint Peter's 3
In the first inning, CCSU's Meg Gorman and Reagan Vunak hit solo shots which gave CCSU a 2-0 advantage. In the third inning, Paige Stringer hit a home run to extend the Blue Devils lead to 3-0.Â
The Peacocks tied up the game in the top of the fifth inning courtesy of Cara McNulty. Kaylee Lacomb walked and advanced to second base after Sydney Orndorff singled on a bunt. The next batter Tai Turner was walked, which loaded the bases. McNulty delivered a three-run RBI double to right field. Lacomb, Orndorff, and Turner all scored which tied the game at 3-3.Â
In the bottom of the sixth, Ava Cino hit CCSU's fourth home run of the day which proved to be the difference.Â

Game 2 CCSU - 8 | Saint Peter's - 0Â 6 Innings
Central Connecticut State put up six runs in the first inning. Cino singled to bring in Gorman in the first followed by a two-run RBI double from Machado. The Blue Devils added three more runs in the inning. An error in the bottom of the fourth added a run for CCSU and a fielder's choice in the top of the sixth secured the win for the Blue Devils. The Peacocks had three hits in the game. These teams will meet again for a doubleheader later in the month on Sunday, Feb. 25.Â
Next, the Saint Peter's Softball team travels to UMBC for a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 16.Â
