This Week In Saint Peter's Athletics: Peacocks Preview

JERSEY CITY, NJ. - Looking ahead for Saint Peter's Athletics, the soccer programs continue conference play, SPU volleyball hosts its home opener, and Saint Peter's golf begins its fall season.

Men's Soccer (1-5-2)

The Peacocks fell 3-1 in a road match at Siena (1-6) on Saturday, Sep. 23. Tom Climpson scored his seventh career-goal for the Peacocks in the 22nd minute. 

This season, Daniel Larsson and Tim Striele are tied for the team-lead in goals with two each. Fabian Schmid and Lex Vaughan have distributed a team-high two assists each. 

SPU returns to Jaroschak this week as the Peacocks host Mount St. Mary's (1-5-1) on Saturday, Sep. 30. The Mountaineers are coming off a 2-1 loss to Manhattan on Sep. 23. Mount is 1-1 in MAAC play this season. Additionally, Saint Peter's is searching for the first win against Mount St. Mary's in program history (0-2.) 

The match will start at 2PM and will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network. 

Women's Soccer (3-4)

The Saint Peter's women's soccer team did not play a match last week due to inclement weather. SPU hosts Siena (1-6-2) at Lincoln Park Turf Field on Wednesday, Sep. 27 at 12PM . The Peacocks are going for their third consecutive win against the Saints. The match will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network. 

SPU sophomore Alyssa Hackett is tied for the team-lead in goals with three and has distributed a team-high four assists. 

On Saturday, Sep. 30, the Peacocks travel to Emmitsburg, Maryland for a matchup with Mount St. Mary's (2-6-2.) The match begins at 1PM. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. 

Volleyball (0-14)

The Saint Peter's volleyball team has three matches this week. The Peacocks travel for a non conference match versus FDU (2-13) on Wednesday, Sep. 27. The match starts at 7PM and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.

On Saturday, Sep. 30 SPU hosts Marist (5-10) in its home opener at 1PM. On Sunday, Oct. 1, Saint Peter's faces Siena (1-13) at The Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center at 1PM. Both matches will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network. 

Mackenzie Tucker leads the Peacocks in points per set with 2.63 and 90 kills. 

Golf 

The Saint Peter's golf team begins a new era this weekend under first year head coach Joseph Ubil at the Binghamton 2023 Mathews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational. The Peacocks will compete from Saturday Sep. 30 - Tuesday Oct. 2 at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin, NY. 

The team brings seven returners including Shiv Manhas and Pablo Alvarez with the addition of SPU freshman Jeffery Wong. Following this competition, the Peacocks will travel to the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, PA and compete at the Bucknell Invitational from Oct. 8 - Oct. 10.
