- The Peacocks head into the contest after a doubleheader split against Monmouth Sunday afternoon while the Knights are coming off a series win over Saint Francis University (Pa.) at home over the weekend.
Looking Back at Monmouth
- Led by a strong game one effort in the circle by Nicole Antuna and clutch hitting, the Peacock picked up a 6-0 victory over Monmouth before falling 6-4 in game two to pick up a doubleheader split.
- Antuna delivered possibly the best performance of her collegiate career as she tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits while striking out one and relying on some stellar Peacock defense.
- Maiah Skakal had a pair of multi-hit games in the contest and finished the doubleheader 4 for 6 with a pair of runs scored.Â
- Dakota Pitts delivered the biggest blow of the day with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning of game one to break the game open.
- For the second consecutive game, Samantha Miller came off the bench and delivered a huge pinch-hit single in game one to give the Peacocks their first lead.
- Katie Sciglimpaglia, Sophie Wilson and Aubrey Ketcham all had at least one hit in both contests led by Ketcham who combined to go 3 for 4 with a run scored.
- Kristen Brennan came on in relief in game two in the circle and was saddled with the tough-luck loss as she allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out three across 4.0 innings.
Inside the Numbers
- Cara McNulty is the team-leader in batting average hitting .349 and has hit safely in nine of her last 12 games. She currently ranks inside the top-10 in the MAAC in average, hits and RBIs.
- Smith has also been fantastic at the plate hitting .300 while being a catalyst at the top of the lineup. Smith is the team leader in runs scored with 23 and stolen bases with seven.
- Sciglimpaglia has been one of the toughest players to strike out in Division I this season with only seven punchouts in 123 at-bats. Her strike out ratio of 17.6 ranks second in the MAAC and 44th in the country this season.Â
- In the circle, Antuna leads the team with a 3.68 ERA in her first season in Jersey City after her impressive complete-game shutout against Monmouth over the weekend.
- SPU has been dynamite defensively this season ranking second in the MAAC and 59th in the country with a .968 fielding percentage on the year.
