JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team beat Bucknell University by a score of 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon. Senior forward Matt Hoyt scored with 40 seconds left in the game and senior midfielder Jamie Davis provided a second half penalty kick to propel the Peacocks to their first win over the Bison since 2007.

- The Bison were the stronger team to start the game, but it was sophomore midfielder Matt Ellis for Saint Peter's who had the best chance of the first 15 minutes, ringing the left woodwork from just outside the box on the left side of goal.
- The teams traded chances for the next 20 minutes before Bucknell put the opening goal of the game on the board in the 36th minute, which also gave the Bison a 1-0 lead going into the half.
- It was the Peacocks who came out after half-time on the attack, when in the 55th minute, junior defender Tom Climpson was taken down by a high kick inside the Bucknell box to award Saint Peter's a penalty.
- Senior midfielder Jamie Davis took and converted the penalty for the Peacocks to tie the game at 1-1.
- For the next 20 minutes, it was all Peacocks as they out-shot the Bison 5-0 during that stretch.

- Graduate forward Marco Torino had the best look for either team in the first overtime, as his turnaround shot from outside the box was saved.
- The score remained tied at 1-1 after the first overtime session.
- The Peacocks created a remarkable series with the time running down at the end of double overtime to get the winning goal. Jamie Davis made a remarkable run down the sidelines and played a ball to junior defender Brian Carvalhoso, who then crossed the ball into Hoyt who snuck his shot under the crossbar to give the Peacocks their first win of the season.
Inside the Numbers:

- This was the first overtime win for the Peacocks since March 29, 2020, where they beat Quinnipiac 3-2 after one overtime period.
- Freshman midfielder Alex Costa and graduate defender Kevin Van Der Pol were issued a yellow card.
- Freshman forward Jamie Hanson played his first game in a Peacock uniform.
Coach's Quotes - Julian Richens:
- Good to get the first win and we really had to work for it, coming from behind to win the game in the overtime period.
- I thought our attacking play was much improved. We had some good chances and hit the woodwork three times in addition to the two goals.
- We will be a team that's building over the next few games and this win gives us some confidence and shows our players how to win a game over 110 minutes if needed.
