JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University softball team competed in a doubleheader matchup against hOURglass rival Rider on Wednesday, ultimately dropping the pair of games. The Broncs were able to finish the first game with a 9-0, five-inning victory. In Game 2, the Peacocks were able to get the bats going, as sophomore
Cara McNulty hit the team's first home run of the season in the bottom of the fourth inning, sending a shot over the left field fence. Saint Peter's would bring in one more run in the second contest, but would end up falling 8-2 after seven innings.

Game 1 Notes:
- The Peacocks defense, headed by junior pitcher Sydney Senerchia, began the game with two straight three-and-out innings against the Rider offense, as the score remained tied at 0-0 heading into the third frame.
- The Broncs were able to get five runs on the board in the third inning following a pair of Peacocks errors. Four of those runs came on a grand slam from Rider's Elena Gonzalez, which granted the visitors a 5-0 lead.
- Junior Katie Sciglimpaglia would then get the Peacocks' first hit of the day in the bottom of the third, but would be left stranded.
- Four more runs for the Broncs in the top of the fifth would prove to be the finishing blow for Game 1, as Rider secured the 9-0 victory through five frames.
Game 2 Notes:
- A three-run first inning for Rider in Game 2 would grant Saint Peter's hOURglass rival an early 3-0 lead following the opening inning.
- McNulty was able to get her first hit of the day in the bottom of the first, hitting a short line drive that split the second baseman and shortstop.
- The Broncs threatened once again in the top of the second, loading the bases with two outs, but sophomore Bailey Hartman was able to handle a pop-up at third base for the final out before any further damage was done.
- Rider tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth before McNulty sent a solo shot out of the park in the bottom of the inning to cut the Rider lead to 5-1.
- Saint Peter's struck again in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Sciglimpaglia singled to left field, which brought in junior captain Anja Solveig Kane from second to bring the score to 5-2.
- Another three-run inning for Rider in the top of the sixth would finish out the scoring for the day, as the Broncs maintained the 8-2 advantage through the final inning.
Inside the Numbers:
- McNulty's home run is the first of the sophomore's career and the first homer by any Peacock this season.
- Sciglimpaglia has now recorded an RBI in each of the team's past three games and leads the team with four on the year.
- Senerchia forced 10 fly outs and seven ground outs over six innings pitched between both contests.
- Each side earned four walks over the course of the two games on Wednesday.
