Men's Basketball Set to Travel to Stony Brook to Take on the Seawolves

Peacocks looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season

Tip-Off

  • After taking down Nyack College at home on Sunday, Saint Peter's will travel on the road for the first time in two weeks to face off against the Seawolves of Stony Brook.
  • The Peacocks come into the matchup coming off an 87-48 win over Nyack Sunday while the Seawolves head into the contest riding a three-game winning streak with victories over Hofstra, Bryant and Central Connecticut State.

Looking Back at Nyack

  • Junior Fousseyni Drame registered his fourth career double-double and second of the season to lead the SPU to its most lopsided victory since 1983, taking down Nyack College 87-48.
  • Drame went 10 for 11 from the floor, finishing the contest with a career-high 22 points while also pulling down 12 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass, to help the Peacocks improve to 3-5 this season.
  • The 39-point win is the largest victory for SPU since taking down Fairleigh Dickinson University 84-44 on Jan. 18, 1983. 
  • The Peacocks also got a season-best 15 points from senior Isiah Dasher who made his first start for SPU and was a perfect 5 for 5 from the floor.
  • Junior Daryl Banks III joined Dasher and Drame in double figures with 15 points of his own, scoring at least 10 points for the fifth time in the last six games.

Notes and Nuggets

  • SPU will take on the Seawolves looking to string together back-to-back wins for the first time this season after dismantling Nyack Sunday afternoon.
  • Headlining the group for the Peacocks is KC Ndefo, who claimed the honor of 2021-22 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year, as well as a spot on the preseason all-league first team. Ndefo leads the conference with 2.25 blocked shots per game and ranks fifth in the NCAA among active players in career blocks.
  • Banks III, a Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection, leads the Peacocks offensively averaging 12.4 points per game this season. He has scored in double figures in five of SPU's last six contests and is leading the conference in free throw percentage at 88.9 percent.
  • Junior guard Doug Edert joins Banks III in double figures with 10.6 points per contest with a pair of 17-point games to his ledger. Edert has scored in double figures in four of the Peacocks' seven games he has appeared in while also ranking third in the MAAC shooting 87.5 percent from the line this season.
  • Coming off this best game of the season, Drame is the team's leading rebounder, sitting third in the MAAC with 8.0 boards per game. After his performance against the Warriors, the Peacocks are now 4-0 in Drame's career when he produces a double-double.
  • SPU heads into the contest with one of the top pressure defenses in the country, ranking second in the MAAC in both steals per game (8.6) and turnovers forced per game (16.12).

Scouting the Seawolves

  • After starting the year 1-3, Stony Brook has been on a hot streak of late winning five of their last six games.
  • Redshirt junior Anthony Roberts is the leading scorer for the Seawolves averaging 15.2 points per contest while also pulling down 5.0 boards per game.
  • Graduate student Jahill Jenkins also fills up the stat sheet with 14.6 points and is the team's leading 3-point shooter, ranking fourth in the America East with 20 made buckets from beyond the arc.
  • On the glass, redshirt junior Tykei Greene leads the America East with 75 total boards this season. Greene averages 10.6 points and 7.5 boards per game on the year.
  • The Seawolves have had a large amount of success from downtown this season, ranking first in the AEC with 9.5 made 3-pointers per game.
  • SBU has struggled some defensively on the year, ranking eighth in the AEC and 290th in DI in scoring defense.
