PRINCESS ANNE, MD- The Saint Peter's University softball team concluded its doubleheader at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Wednesday evening, falling in both games. Senior
Alina Guevara and freshmen
Brandi Feeney and
Cara McNulty each finished the day with multiple RBIs, while sophomore
Katie Sciglimpaglia also finished with one run batted in.

Game 1:
- Guevara got things started early for the Peacocks on Wednesday, as the senior sent a shot to right field which brought in Anja Solveig Kane to put Saint Peter's up 1-0.
- The Hawks would respond quickly, going up 9-1 on the Peacocks by the end of the first inning.
- Sciglimpaglia would answer in kind, recording her first RBI of the season in the top of the second with a single to left field, bringing in Georgia Verrastro to bring the score to 9-2.
- Following a UMES home run in the second which brought the score to 10-2, Guevara recorded her second RBI of the game, driving in freshman Olyvia Smith by means of a groundout.Â
- That, however, was the closest the visitors would get in what was ultimately a five-inning setback.
Game 2:
- After falling behind 1-0 in the opening frame by means of an unearned run, the Peacocks gained their first lead of the day in the top of the third on a line drive to right center field off the bat of Feeney which brought in Guevara and McNulty to put Saint Peter's up 2-1.
- Following three scoreless innings and after falling behind 4-2, the Peacocks came out swinging in the seventh, scoring four runs off two RBIs from McNulty, an RBI triple from Feeney, and a score off a wild pitch from Feeney to put the Peacocks up 6-4.
- UMES would tie the game at 6-6 in the final frame, forcing extra innings and capitalizing in the bottom of the eighth, taking the 7-6 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- Following her third appearance for Saint Peter's, Feeney has recorded a team-high four RBIs, and leads the team in OPS (1.222) and batting (.333).
- McNulty stands as the only other Peacock batting above a .300 thus far, finishing the day with a .313 average after six starts.
- Two Peacocks finished the day batting .500 against the Hawks, including Feeney (2-for-4) and Kane (3-for-6).
- Freshmen Sophie Wilson and Kristen Brennan eached finished the day allowing only two runs each while pitching four innings apiece.
