Opening Tip
  • Saint Peter's is back in Jersey City on Sunday, Feb. 23, hosting hOURglass Rival Rider.
  • The New Jersey rivals will meet at 2 p.m. on ESPN3.
  • Saint Peter's reclaimed sole possession of first-place in the MAAC on Friday, improving to a conference-best record of 11-5, sitting a half-game ahead of 10-5 Siena.
  • The Peacocks continued their winning ways on Friday after defeating Manhattan 67-64 in Riverdale, NY.
  • Despite the close margin of victory, Saint Peter's led by as many as 16 points in the second half and held a 12-point advantage with 1:02 remaining in the game.
  • All 12 players to see action in the win scored at least one point, marking the 14th time this season that at least 10 different Peacocks scored in a game. 
  • Aaron Estrada led the team in points for the second straight game, scoring 18 points, while KC Ndefo added 11 points with eight rebounds and four blocks.
 
Things to Know Before Sunday
The Rivalry
  • The hOURglass Rivalry between Saint Peter's and Rider will put the New Jersey institutions across from each other in the 69th all-time meeting on Sunday. 
  • The Peacocks trail the all-time series, 30-38 dating back to 1942-43 and 20-34 since 1998-99 when the teams became MAAC rivals.
  • Saint Peter's has dropped three straight to Rider over the past two seasons.
  • When the teams met in Lawrenceville back on Jan. 24, the Broncs stole a 70-66 win from the Peacocks in a contest that Saint Peter's led for almost 32 minutes. 
  • Saint Peter's has struggled at home against Rider the past decade, posting a 2-8 record in Jersey City against its foe since 2009-10.
Hottest MAAC Team  
  • Saint Peter's enters Sunday's rivalry as the hottest team in the conference, currently riding a league-best four game winning streak.
  • The squad has produced wins in eight out of the last nine games from Jan. 26 to Feb. 21 --- the program's best run since winning 11 out of 12 games through the end of the regular season, MAAC tournament, and CIT in 2016-17.
  • The mark is the program's best streak during the regular season, since the 2004-05 Peacocks also won eight out of nine MAAC contests from Jan. 24 through Feb. 21. 
  • Dating back to Jan. 18, the Peacocks have also posted a conference-leading 9-2 record.
 
Historic at Home
  • Saint Peter's will look to remain dominant in the Yanitelli Center as the team seeks a program record eighth MAAC home win on Sunday.
  • Following last weekend's two home wins, the team's overall home record improved to 9-3 and its MAAC home record upgraded to 7-1 on the year.
  • The 9-3 overall home record is the best in a single season for the program since the 2004-05 Peacocks posted a 9-2 home record.
  • Saint Peter's achieved seven home conference wins for only the third time in the program's history, matching the 1983-84 and 2004-05 squads which also won seven MAAC home games.
  • The men from Jersey City are also riding a six-game winning streak at home and the squad has been victorious in nine of the past 10 home bouts.
 
Next Up
  • Saint Peter's will take the annual Western New York trip next week, visiting Niagara (Feb. 27) and Canisius (Feb. 29) for the final road contests of the season.
  • The Peacocks will then return to New Jersey for the regular-season finale against Iona (Mar. 6) before heading to Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City for the 2020 MAAC Championship.
