GAME NOTES

Opening Tip
  • The Saint Peter's men's basketball program remains in Connecticut during its current road stanza, visiting Hamden for a matchup with top-ranked Quinnipiac.
  • The Peacocks and Bobcats will meet on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 4:30 p.m.
  • The team sits at 2-3 in the conference and 5-9 overall on the season.
  • Saint Peter's will look to get out of its current three-game slump, after most recently falling at Fairfield, 61-51, on Wednesday night.
  • In the game, the Peacocks cut a 12-point deficit to two points midway through the second half, before an almost nine-minute scoring drought ultimately led to the team's demise.
  • The freshman duo of Doug Edert and Matthew Lee scored 10 points each, while 10 different players scored at least two points for the eighth time this season.

Things to Know Before We Meet Quinnipiac
All-Time Series
  • Saturday's matchup will be the 15th all-time meeting between Saint Peter's and Quinnipiac.
  • The Peacocks lead the Bobcats 9-5 overall, and 7-5 with both as members of the MAAC.
  • When the teams meet in Hamden, they have split an even 3-3.
  • Throughout the series, Saint Peter's had never dropped consecutive games to Quinnipiac until last season, when they lost both regular season meetings.

Young Guns
  • A quarter of the way through the conference ledger, the youngsters on the Saint Peter's lineup have stepped into big roles on the team.
  • Through the handful of MAAC games, the class of 2023 is accounting for over 57 percent of the team's scoring, with Daryl Banks III (57 points) and Doug Edert (46 points) leading the entire Peacock squad in total points.
  • A freshman has been the team's leading scorer in all five contests --- Banks (Iona), Aaron Estrada (Marist and Siena), Edert (Canisius and Fairfield), and Matthew Lee (Fairfield).
  • Lastly, Banks and Lee are the only players on the team to start in every league game thus far.

Minute Distribution
  • Saint Peter's is the only team in the MAAC that doesn't have a single player averaging over 26 minutes per game on its roster --- every other conference team has at least two players playing above the threshold.
  • The Peacocks are also the lone team in the league with 11 men playing over 13 minutes per game, with no player playing above 30 minutes per outing.
  • Additionally, Saint Peter's and Niagara are the only squads that have six different players averaging minutes in the 20's.

Tough "Road" Ahead
  • With the defeat at Fairfield on Wednesday night, the Peacock's away record fell to 2-6 on the season.
  • With seven true road games remaining, Saint Peter's would need to win at least six of them to finish the year with a winning away record.
  • Over the past decade, the men's team has only recorded two seasons with winning away records --- the 2016-17 team went 11-7 (won the CIT championship) and the 2010-11 team went 9-8 (won the MAAC Championship).

Next Up
  • The three-game road stretch concludes in a week, when the Peacocks are back in action next Friday, Jan. 24 at Rider.
  • The hOURglass rivals will meet at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
