For Starters
  • The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team will travel to Quinnipiac University to take on the Bobcats in the first MAAC matchup of 2019 on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m.
  • The Peacocks are coming off a narrow 2-1 defeat at No. 22 Rutgers last Tuesday. Junior midfielder Jordan Jowers knocked in the lone goal for the Peacocks against the Scarlet Knights, slotting the ball in the upper-right corner of the net after an assist from teammate Dominic Laws. 
  • Rutgers' No. 22 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll represents the highest by a Saint Peter's opponent thus far in 2019.
Back in the MAAC
  • The men enter conference play following an impressive 2018 campaign which culminated with the program's first playoff berth in eight years.
  • The Peacocks posted a 5-4-1 MAAC record last fall, which represented their most successful conference campaign since 2010. That year, Saint Peter's won the MAAC regular season title, as well as the MAAC Championship.
  • In 2018, Jowers led the MAAC in shots with 57 and finished second in the standings in shots per game (3.17).
  • Laws also popped up in multiple spots on the MAAC leaderboard last season, finishing third in points (19), points per game (1.00), goals (8), and goals per game (.42).
History with the Bobcats
  • The Peacocks and the Bobcats hold an even 5-5-1 all-time record against each other since the first meeting between the two sides in 1998.
  • Saint Peter's will be looking for its first win in the series since a 2-0 victory in Hamden on September 26, 2015.
  • The last time the two sides met ended with Quinnipiac on top, 3-2, after a hard-fought match in Jersey City on Oct. 3, 2018.
