Kane Hits Extra Inning Home Run in Win Over Army

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WEST POINT, NY - The Saint Peter's softball team split Friday's doubleheader at Army. The Peacocks won game one 1-0 (8 innings) thanks to an Anja Solveig Kane homerun in the top of the extra frame and lost the second game 7-0. 
 
Game Notes vs. Army:
Game 1:

• The Peacocks got out of an early jam after the Black Knights loaded the bases in the first inning, but Sydney Senerchia struck out the final two batters to end the inning.
• Neither team could get anything going, until the Peacocks threatened in the seventh inning.
• Theamaris Ramirez singled to right field and Katie Sciglimpaglia followed up with a single of her own to put the winning run in scoring position but Barbara Verrastro flied out in the next at bat to end the inning.
• In the top of the eighth inning, Kane hit a home run on the first pitch of the inning, giving the Peacocks the lead 1-0. 
• The Peacocks held off the Black Knights in the bottom of the eighth inning to get the win, 1-0.
• Senerchia pitched a complete game shutout, only giving up three hits with seven strikeouts against the Black Knights. 

Game 2:

• Both teams went scoreless in the first three innings. 
• In the fourth inning, Army scored three runs to take the lead 3-0.
• The Black Knights scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to add to their lead and take the win, 7-0.
• Katie Sciglimpaglia led the Peacocks with two hits in game two to go along with her team-high two hits in game one.
