NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The Saint Peter's softball team lost both games in Saturday's doubleheader against Niagara. The first game the Peacocks lost 8-1 and the second game the team lost 8-0.
Game Notes vs. Niagara:
Game 1:
- Both the Purple Eagles and the Peacocks did not score in the first inning.
- In the second inning, Georgia Verrastro hit a home run to center field taking the lead 1-0.
- In the bottom of the second inning, Niagara hit a home run in the first at bat tying the score 1-1.
- Later that inning the Purple Eagles singled bringing in an RBI to take the lead 2-1.
- In the third inning, Niagara doubled to left field allowing three players to score, making it 5-1.
- In the fifth inning, the Purple Eagles scored a homer followed by an RBI that led to two more runs to their lead.
- In the last inning, Niagara scored on a passed ball to win the game, 8-1.
- Taylor Lewis pitched three innings for the Peacocks.
- Sydney Senerchia pitched two innings while striking out two Purple Eagles.
Game 2:
- Both teams did not score in the first inning again.
- In the second inning, the Purple Eagles totaled six runs to get an early lead on the Peacocks.
- Neither team scored for the remainder of the game, finishing the afternoon in a 6-0 defeat.
- Schieler Collins earned the only hit for the Peacocks.
