Softball Edged by Quinnipiac in MAAC Opener

The Peacocks lost both games against Quinnipiac in the MAAC opener

Game Notes vs. Quinnipiac:
Game 1:
  • Both teams went scoreless in the first two innings. 
  • Quinnipiac scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning, going ahead 2-0. 
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Bobcats hit a home run to extend their lead to 3-0. 
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Natasha Solano grounded to third base allowing Theamaris Ramirez to scored the first run for the Peacocks, 3-1. 
  • Sydney Senerchia pitched the whole game earning six strikeouts against the Bobcats. 
Game 2:
  • The Peacocks started the game strong scoring three runs in the first inning, leading 3-0. 
  • Ramirez put the first run on the board for the Peacocks with a single to center field, scoring Harley Connors.
  • An error by the catcher scored Alyssa Adams from third and advanced Ramirez to third, who scored on a single by Marissa Morales.
  • In the bottom of the second, Quinnipiac scored two runs, cutting into the Peacocks lead 3-2. 
  • In the third inning, the Bobcats tied the game 3-3 off a RBI single to center field.
  • Quinnipiac scored another run in the fifth inning to take the lead over the Peacocks, 4-3. 
  • The Peacocks tied things back up at four in the sixth inning when Alyssa Mido singled to second base allowing Georgia Verrastro to score.
  • Neither team scored in the seventh, sending the game into extra innings.
  • Both teams went scoreless in the eighth and ninth, sending the game into the 10th inning still knotted up at 4-4.
  • In the 10th inning, Quinnipiac was hit by a pitch with bases loaded allowing them to score the walk-off run to win the game. 
  • Theamaris Ramirez led the Peacocks in hits, finishing the game with three.
  • Harley Connors was right behind her totaling two hits against the Bobcats. 
  • Barbara Verrastro pitched 7.2 innings while striking out three Bobcats.
