Men’s Basketball Falls to Quinnipiac

The Peacocks dropped Friday night’s game 77-60 to the Bobcats

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's Peacocks fell to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 77-60 on Friday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. Three Peacocks, Davauhnte Turner, KC Ndefo, and Quinn Taylor, combined to score 45 points.
 
Game Notes
  • Saint Peter's (8-21, 5-12) fell behind Quinnipiac (16-12, 11-6) 11-6 before cutting the game to 11-10 behind consecutive buckets from Ndefo and Derrick Woods.
  • The Peacocks remained within one possession and trailed 17-16 with 10 minutes remaining in the half.
  • Quinnipiac poured in the game's next 11 points, going up 28-16 by the under eight media timeout.
  • Trialing 31-18, Saint Peter's went on a 12-5 run, cutting the score to 36-30 after Quinn Taylor scored five points, Davauhnte Turner hit a 3-pointer, and Ndefo put down a slam dunk to pull within six points.
  • At the half, the Peacocks trialed 38-30.
  • In the second half, Saint Peter's again fell behind by double-digits (43-33) but the Peacocks responded by going on a 10-2 run, paced by a full-court press defense and several forced turnovers which led to layups by Samuel Idowu, Ndefo, and Dallas Watson to bring the game to 45-43.
  • The Peacocks would trail by only two still, down 47-45 with 12:30 to play.
  • Quinnipiac would answer by putting together a 12-2 run that put them ahead of the Peacocks by double-figures for the final time in the night.
  • Despite the Peacocks keeping pace with the Bobcats over the final five minutes of the game, the deficit was too large and Saint Peter's never got under 11 points before falling 77-60.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • The trio of Turner, Ndefo, and Taylor all scored 15 points each to lead the Peacocks.
  • They each connected on exactly six made field goals, with Turner hitting three 3-pointers.
  • Saint Peter's forced Quinnipiac into 18 turnovers, converting those turnovers into 24 points.
  • The Peacocks outscored the Bobcat 36-14 in the paint and 11-2 on second chance points.
  • The MAAC leading scorer, Cameron Young scored a game-high 26 points for Quinnipiac.
