JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's men's basketball team suffered its fifth straight defeat in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, falling to Canisius 64-60 on Sunday afternoon.
Derrick Woods led the Peacocks with a career-high 14 points.

Game Notes
- After giving up the game's first points, Saint Peter's (6-17, 3-8) opened the game by outscoring Canisius (11-13, 8-4) 9-2 to take a 9-4 lead.
- With an 11-8 lead, the Peacocks went on an 8-0 run extending their lead to double figures, leading 19-8.
- The run featured three layups by Quinn Taylor, Samuel Idowu, and Woods, and a pair of free throws by KC Ndefo.
- The Peacocks kept the lead above 10 points for two minutes, but Canisius eventually cut into the score and tied the game at 28-28.
- The teams would go into the half knotted up at 32 all.
- The second half opened with ties at 34 and 36 before the Golden Griffins opened up a 40-36 lead.
- Saint Peter's would respond with an 8-1 run led by Dallas Watson's five points to regain the lead at 44-41. Â
- The game would seesaw over the next seven minutes, with the teams finding themselves in a lock at 52-52.
- Canisius would use the next three minutes to produce a 10-0 run that put the Peacocks down by 10 points, trailing 62-52 with 4:39 to play.
- Saint Peter's attempted a comeback effort, going on a 7-0 run with Watson leading the way with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws cutting the deficit to 62-59.
- With 40 seconds to play, the Peacocks forced a shot clock violation, regaining the ball with 10.0 seconds on the clock.
- Since the Peacocks trailed by three and were in the double bonus, Canisius opted to foul instead of giving the Peacocks a shot at the game-tying basket.
- Davauhnte Turner would hit the first free throw and miss the second in hopes of an offensive rebound but Canisius gained possession on a ball that deflected out of bounds off of Turner's leg.
- Cansius' Malik Johnson sealed the 64-60 victory over Saint Peter's with two made free throws.Â

- Woods' career-high 14 points came on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the charity stripe.
