Opening Tip
  • The Saint Peter's men's basketball team remains on the road to conclude its out of conference slate, heading to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for a noon meeting with LIU on Sunday, Dec. 22.
  • After an 0-3 start to the season, the Peacocks are 2-2 in their last four outings, with two impressive wins over NEC schools and two respectable losses to High-Major programs.
  • Last time out, Saint Peter's dropped a road contest at national-power UConn, falling 66-56 on Wednesday night in the XL Center.
  • Despite the Peacocks outscoring the Huskies 34-26 in the second half and forcing UConn to a season-most 26 turnovers, the squad failed to complete the comeback after falling behind by as much as 23 points in the game.
  • The freshman trio of Aaron Estrada (12), Daryl Banks III (10), and Fousseyni Drame (8) combined to score 30 points to lead the Peacocks in the game.
 
Things to Know Before Sunday's LIU Game
Series History
  • The Peacocks and newly rebranded LIU Sharks will battle for the 38th time in the all-time series dating back to the 1957-58 season.
  • Saint Peter's leads the series 22-15 and the teams are an even 1-1 in games played at the Barclays Center.  
  • The road team has one the past two meetings opposed to the preceding seven meetings that were won by the home team.
  • Last season, the then Blackbirds topped the Peacocks 74-58 in Jersey City.
  • The last time the teams met at the Barclays Center, Saint Peter's earned a 71-56 victory on Dec. 17, 2017.
 
Dominance against the NEC
  • Saint Peter's will meet five Northeast Conference (NEC) opponents in 2019-20. The Peacocks have already met Bryant (11/13), Wagner (11/20), St. Francis Brooklyn (11/30), and Fairleigh Dickinson (12/11).
  • Sunday's game with LIU will be the season tiebreaker for Saint Peter's and the NEC, having split the first four contests against the conference.
  • Against the current NEC, Saint Peter's holds an all-time record of 152-90 and the program has an all-time record of .500 or better against 9 of the 11 NEC schools.
 
Better Late Than Never
  • Following the Peacocks second half advantage over UConn on Wednesday, the team made it sixth straight contests that they haven't been outscored in the second half --- the season opener was the lone game the Peacocks lost the second half scoring battle.
  • Through the six-game stretch, Saint Peter's has outscored its opponents by a combined 33 points in the final 20 minutes.
 
Next Up
  • The men will make their longest road trip of the non conference ledger on Saturday, Dec. 28, when they head south to Virginia to face Hampton.
