  • The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team will continue its historic season on Thursday, as the squad prepares to host Marist in the semifinal round of the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Soccer Championship.
  • The semifinal marks the first postseason match to be hosted at Jaroschak since the conference switched the playoff format to host sites in 2014.
  • The Peacocks enter the match as the top overall seed after finishing the regular season with a league-best record of 12-5-0 and conference record of 9-1-0.
  • The nine-win performance marks the team's most successful MAAC season in program history.
Top Men
  • Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Peacocks received nine All-MAAC honors from eight individuals, as voted on by the league's coaches.
  • Head coach Julian Richens was voted as the unanimous coach of the year by his peers, while Dominic Laws earned the title of MAAC Offensive Player of the Year.
  • Laws was also joined by Jordan Jowers as the only two players in the league to receive unanimous selections to the All-MAAC First Team, while Tom Coulson, Jamie Davis, and Philip Smith each earned All-MAAC Second Team distinctions, with freshmen Tom Climpson and Herman Wulff rounding out the honors after being voted to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
  • Following the Peacocks' win, and an eventual Iona loss to Rider, Saint Peter's clinched the MAAC regular season title for the first time since 2010, and secured the top overall seed in the 2019 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship.
Last Time Out
  • The last time Saint Peter's was on the field, the Peacocks came away with a 2-1 overtime win at home against Siena on Nov. 2.
  • The Peacocks were trailing 1-0 late in the game, when Jowers put in the equalizer off the assist from Laws in the 80th minute to bring things even for the squad.
  • The game would be decided by senior captain Frederik Lindqvist in the 98th minute, who would volley the ball into the net following a double assist from Smith and junior defender Anton Moore.
  • The victory marked the squad's record ninth consecutive MAAC win and sent them into the postseason on a high note.
History with the Foxes
  • The Peacocks and the Red Foxes last met on the pitch on Oct. 23, which saw a 3-2 overtime victory in favor of the Peacocks by way of a Laws game-winner in the 96th minute off the helper from Davis.
  • Following this season's match, Saint Peter's improved to 16-17-1 against Marist, snapping a four-game losing streak against the side from Poughkeepsie.
  • The Peacocks and the Red Foxes have only faced each other once before in MAAC postseason play, when the two sides met 15 years ago in 2004, with Marist ultimately winning the match by a 2-1 decision.
Up Next
  • The winner of Thursday's match will go on to face the victor of the match between No. 2 Quinnipiac and No. 3 Iona in the MAAC Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 17. The match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
