Seghiri Nets Golden Goal in OT at Fairfield

The Peacocks earn their first MAAC win of the season with the 4-3 victory

FAIRFIELD, CT - Freshman midfielder Omar Seghiri gave the Saint Peter's men's soccer team its first three points of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) season with his golden goal in the 94' of action at Fairfield on Saturday afternoon. The win for the Peacocks improves the team's MAAC record to 1-1 on the young season and 4-3 overall.

Game Notes
  • The scoring frenzy began less than 10 minutes into action with Tom Coulson collecting a loose ball from five yards and scoring, leading to a 1-0 Peacock lead in minute six.
  • 10 minutes later at the 16 minute-mark, Fairfield's Cormack Pike equalized the match at 1-1 with a header from 15 yards out.
  • It wouldn't take Saint Peter's long before the go-ahead goal was scored by Dominic Laws. Laws received a long pass from Frederik Lindqvist that led to the one-on-one goal in the 23rd minute.
  • Right before the half, Cooper Knecht scored Fairfield's second goal of the game in the 45' of play sending the match to break at 2-2.
  • Knecht's second goal of the day in the 56th minute of the contest gave Fairfield its first lead at 3-2.
  • The lead wouldn't last long as Jordan Jowers sent a corner kick to Laws who found the back of the net at the 58 minute plateau, knotting the match at 3-3.
  • The score would remain the same at the end of regulation, sending Saint Peter's to its second overtime in as many conference games.
  • In sudden death, Seghiri's game-winner was delivered by Laws' cross that Seghiri collected and sent to the far post.
