Men’s Soccer Pummels St. Francis Brooklyn Behind a Three-Goal Second Half Rally

The Peacocks never trailed in the 4-1 blowout win over St. Francis

BROOKLYN, NY – The Saint Peter's men's soccer team used three second half goals to propel the Peacocks to a dominating 4-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The Peacocks record improves to 3-4-1 after the wire to wire victory.
 
Game Notes
  • Dominic Laws scored the game's opening goal in the 32nd minute after he beat the defender and received a perfect pass from Gabriele Zennaro and Steven Parry putting the ball in the goal uncontested.
  • In the 53rd minute Jordan Jowers sent a set piece from the left side to Frederik Lindqvist who headed the ball across the goal to the back post to start the second half Peacock rally.
  • Just three minutes later in the 56th minute, Lindqvist scored his second tally of the afternoon when he recovered a rebound and sent a rocket from the left side to the far-right post, extending the Peacock lead to 3-0 over the Terriers.
  • The rally continued in minute 63 off of another set piece, this time coming from Lindqvist who delivered a free kick to Laws who knocked in the Peacocks' fourth goal of the contest.
  • St. Francis ended the Peacocks shutout bid with a goal in the 65th minute of play for the final score of 4-1.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Lindqvist scored five points on two goals and one assist in the win
  • The five points are the most points in a single game for any Peacock this season.
  • Laws added two goals today, making him the new team leader in goals (4) and points (9) on the year.
  • Jowers and Parry each recorded one assist in the game for Saint Peter's.
  • The assist for Jowers was the first of his career and his point total on the season improves to seven, just behind Laws.
  • Freshman keeper Jason Dubrovich made his fourth straight start for the Peacocks in goal, upping his record to 2-1-1 after making two saves in the win.
  • The four total goals are the most in a game for the Peacocks this season, while the three-goal scoring margin is also the most for the program in 2018.
