Drexel Sweeps Softball on Tuesday

JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's softball team fell to non-conference opponent Drexel in a doubleheader on Tuesday at Jaroschak Field. The Peacocks dropped the first game 8-1 and the second game, 11-0. 

"We played them tougher today than we did earlier in the year," said head coach Chris Stelma. "We are back at it tomorrow against UMES for the MAAC SAAC Choices Sober Tailgate."

Game 1

The Peacocks started Barbara Verrastro, who pitched a complete game. Theamaris Ramirez led the team with a home run.

Drexel led the Peacocks 6-0 until the bottom of the sixth. Ramirez scored the Peacock's lone run after hitting a solo homer to center field. The Peacocks were unable to score again and the Dragons won the game, 8-1.

Game 2

The Dragons took the Peacocks to five innings. Pitcher, Sydney Ramsey, started the game and pitched 2.2 innings. The Peacocks fought to stay in the game but Drexel took the win, 11-0.

Next Up

The Peacocks will host UMES on Wednesday, April 17. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will attend and host the SAAC Choices Sober Tailgate at the doubleheader. The game will start at 2 p.m.
