Box Score SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Saint Peter's baseball team held Seton Hall to just two runs on Wednesday, but could not find the bats to secure the road victory as the Peacocks suffered a 2-0 defeat to the New Jersey foe.
"(Pitcher) Joe Albunia brought his 'A' game against Seton Hall today," said head coach Danny Ramirez. "He got ahead of hitters and was able to keep guys off balance all day. Anthony Ramos also threw 2 scoreless innings. Our team had great energy and kept it going all game. Although we lost 2-0 I think we showed some signs of improvement today against a really strong opponent in Seton Hall. If we can consistently play the way we did today, we will open some eyes come conference play."
Joe Albunia (Jersey City, NJ / Hudson Catholic) tossed six innings for the Peacocks, allowing one run in the second and sixth innings. Albunia (0-1) allowed seven hits and struck out one batter. Anthony Ramos (North Bergen, NJ / North Bergen) came in relief and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
Offensively, the Peacocks struggled to get the bats going, as the team picked up just three hits and one walk on the day. Angel Perez (Jersey City, NJ / Marist HS), Jared Quintero (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech HS), and Peter Ferony (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) each recorded one hit on the day.
The Peacocks will have their home-opener on Tuesday, March 20. The team will host Albany in a noon doubleheader.
