JERSEY CITY, NJ – For the third time this season, the Saint Peter's men's basketball team used an extra period to secure a home victory, this time knocking off Hampton 83-80 to end non-conference play. The win pushed the Peacocks' overall win total to three games on the season. The senior duo of guard

Game Notes
- Saint Peter's (3-9) fell behind by as many as 11 points early on to Hampton (5-8) trailing 24-13 in the first half.
- Following the under eight-minute media break and trailing 31-22, the Peacocks sparked a 6-0 run behind back to back layups from Manny Dixon and Idowu, and a breakaway one-handed slam dunk by KC Ndefo after the Peacocks forced consecutive Hampton turnovers.
- The run extended to 12-4 after Quinn Taylor hit two free throws to give the Peacocks their first lead of the afternoon at 36-35.
- After Hampton regained a five-point lead, the Peacocks again responded to the challenge, outscoring Hampton 9-2 over the final 2:07 of the half to take a 45-43 lead into intermission.
- Turner scored 7 of the 9 Peacocks' points during the final run to lead the team.
- Two layups by Turner and two 3-pointers by Taylor quickly extended the Peacocks lead to 11 points four minutes into the second half.
- Leading 59-48 with just under 13 minutes to play, the Peacocks went on a six-minute scoring drought that allowed Hampton to battle back into the game, cutting a once double-digit Peacock lead to only a single possession.
- The Peacocks ended the drought in an unusual fashion, scoring a six-point possession.
- The possession began with a triple from Idowu with a Hampton foul occurring away from the ball after the shot went up.
- With the Peacocks keeping the possession, Turner received an inbound pass and knocked in a trifecta of his own just four seconds after Idowu's to extend the lead back to nine points (65-56) with seven minutes to play.
- Hampton would eventually cut the late deficit to one point, but Turner put in a layup with under two to play to give the Peacocks a 69-66 lead.
- On the ensuing possession, Hampton's Greg Heckstall hit the game-tying 3-pointer, to knot the game at 69-69 with 1:22 remaining.
- Idowu would miss a layup and Hampton would turn the ball over giving Saint Peter's the final possession of regulation with 20 seconds to go.
- Turner took a jumper at the buzzer that missed, sending the game into overtime.
- The Peacocks picked up leads as large as six points twice in the overtime period and matched their highest overtime output of the season scoring 14 points to close out the game with an 83-80 win.
Inside the Numbers
- Turner scored 20+ points for the fifth time this season, and handed out a team-best six assists.
- Idowu recorded his third 20+ point output this season and led the Peacocks with seven rebounds.
- This was the first time a Peacock duo scored 20 or more points in a game since Quadir Welton '17 and Nick Griffin '18 scored 23 and 21 points respectively on November 18, 2016 against Lipscomb.
- For the third consecutive game, Taylor posted a season-best in scoring, this time dropping 18 points on a perfect day at the free throw line (6-6) and from deep (2-2) while going 5 of 7 from the field.
- Dallas Watson posted seven points and matched Idowu with seven rebounds.
- The Peacocks won almost every battle in the game, edging Hampton on the glass (38-37), points in the paint (44-22), points off of turnovers (11-8), fast break points (8-4), and bench points (18-9).
- Hampton was led in the game by Heckstall and Kalin Fisher who each scored 22 points.
- All three of Saint Peter's victories this season have come in an overtime period at home.
- Out of the Peacocks' five home contests this year, four of them have needed an extra period to determine a winner with Saint Peter's going 3-1 in the four games.
- Saint Peter's is the only team in NCAA Division I this season to play in four home overtime games and the team's three home overtime victories lead the NCAA.
- Sophomore Cameron Underwood logged his first career start in the game.
