LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - The Saint Peter's women's volleyball team concluded its best season in 10 years in the second round of the MAAC Championship on Friday morning at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Peacocks dropped a close four-set match to hOURglass Rival Rider University.
Game Notes vs. Rider:
- The Peacocks came up short in Friday's second round match against Rider, going four sets.
- The team started the first set out strong, scoring eight straight points to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
- The Peacocks maintained the strong lead, always keeping the Broncs doubled up, taking leads of 10-5, 12-6, 14-7, and 16-8 before Rider got within three points, trailing the Peacocks 19-16.
- The Peacocks would score six of the set's final nine points, winning the first set (25-19).
- The Peacocks never led in set number two, but always stayed within a handful of points before giving up a large lead late in the set.
- Rider would take set two (18-25).
- Rider kept the hot hand in the third, jumping out to an 8-0 lead.
- The Peacocks could not get out of the hole the team dug early in the match, falling in the set (16-25).
- Looking to keep the magical season alive, the Peacocks took a 22-16 lead late in the fourth set.
- Unfortunately, the Peacocks ran out of gas as Rider scored the next nine straight points to claim the set (22-25) and win the match.

Saint Peter's women's volleyball concludes the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 9-25 and a 5-13 MAAC record. The nine wins were the most for the program since 2008 and the five conference wins were the team's most since 2009.
