Fairfield Sweeps Softball on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, CT- The Saint Peter's University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Fairfield University on Saturday evening at the Alumni Softball Field. The Peacocks fell 10-1 in the first game and 8-0 in the second. The Peacock's overall record drops to 4-34 and their MAAC record is 2-15.

"Today was a rough day," said head coach Chris Stelma. "As a team we really never got it going. We look forward to bouncing back tomorrow and paying tribute to our Seniors."

Game 1

Saint Peter's started Crystal Carlucci who pitched all five innings of the game. Carlucci also led the Peacocks offensively with a home run and one RBI.

The Stags took a strong 5-0 advantage through the first three innings. It wasn't until the top of the fourth that the Peacocks scored with a homer from Carlucci falling behind the Stags 5-1.

Saint Peter's failed to score and Fairfield added five more runs to win the game10-1.

Game 2

Saint Peters started Alyssa Ruiz who pitched 4.1 innings in the second contest of the day. It was a short game for the Peacocks as they were only able to get four hits in five innings.

The Peacocks also did not score as the Stags finished the game winning 8-0. 

Next up

The Peacocks will honor their seniors on senior day in a doubleheader matchup against Rider at the Joseph J. Jaroschak Field on Sunday, May 7. The first game will start promptly at 1pm.
